Canal Adventures

DSCF7791You may have noticed that June has been unusually wet!  Spending as much time as we do by the River Trent, we watch the changes in water level with great interest.  We also follow the Environment Agency’s frequently upated website which gives us a very clear picture.   Of course, sometimes we have to make a decision to rule out River Paddles on safety grounds.  That’s why we feel incredibly lucky to have the Trent and Mersey Canal on our doorstep, too.

It means we can still get people out on the water.  We also allow younger Adventurers onto the Canal, so it is great for families.  The views are very different from the river, but the principals are the same, and like the River Adventures, Canal Adventures also begin at our riverside base at Poplars Farm, with minibus transport to the start point.

DSCF7797DSCF7800You get the same safety instructions, and advice on paddling technique if you need it, plus a bit of information about canal etiquette.  Then you’re off!  This is the lock at Swarkestone, and we collect you from the Clock Warehouse at Shardlow when you’re done.DSCF7805  We’ll collect you after you’ve had a pint, or a meal; it’s very civilized!
